Our UV units have been tried and tested for over 25 years, these are designed for domestic use and by following our guidelines you should not go wrong.
The range of UV units on this page consist of an enclosed chamber with inlet/outlet water connections and an inner high purity quartz sleeve. This sleeve houses a shortwave UV lamp which passes UV light through the sleeve, into the water. Shortwave ultraviolet destroys the genetic structure of micro organisms, therefore all bacteria or viruses in the water are destroyed.
UV light is one of the safest ways to disinfect water as it uses no chemicals, reducing the risk of over or under dosing the system. It also does not alter the taste.
Our UV units comply with international minimum dosing standards. In general UV units are rated according to the UV transparency of the water, flowrate and level of bacterial kill. Our units are rated to give a minimum dos of 38mJ/cm2 which is what is required to ensure adequate treatment of drinking water. Do not assume other units available on the market are equal to this, ask them for confirmation.
Prior to installation of these units we recommend the use of a suitably sizes 5 micron pre filter to ensure optimum operation. These are also available on this website.
